New Silk Road
The New Silk Road programme forged links between practitioners from the UK and Central and South Asia – including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan – and combined the unique crafts skills from the region with the contemporary visual language of designers from the UK. The programme was developed following consultancy visits to the region and in collaboration with local partners. 12 workshops were devised and programmed between November 2006 and March 2008 across the region, with an emphasis on fashion and textiles innovation.
