Gem

Gem presented the work of students and graduates of Turquoise Mountain’s Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture in Kabul, Afghanistan, demonstrating how traditional materials and techniques are being applied in contemporary jewellery and gem-cutting practice in Afghanistan. The show was curated by jeweler Melanie Eddy who had undertaken a two-month residency at Turquoise Mountain in 2010. Alison was the consultant adviser on the show and commissioned designer Will Shannon to design and produce the exhibition cabinets.
